BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) – The Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Andover Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations conducted a joint counter-human trafficking operation that led to seven arrests.
In the operation in Butler County that took place on Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22, investigators and officers worked with a local advocacy group, ICTSOS, that provides support for survivors of trafficking.
“They met with potential victims of trafficking and offered paths to survivorship to ten people who were engaged in commercial sex work during the course of the operation,” the Butler County Sheriff’s Office explained in a news release. “One suspect was identified as a sex trafficker during this advocacy initiative, located nearby, and arrested for promoting the sale of sexual relations, a felony.” “This operation also identified and arrested six men who agreed to purchase sexual relations from a minor child in Butler County. These men have been arrested and booked into the Butler County jail on a variety of felony charges.”
In all, the sheriff’s office reported that seven arrests were made.
